The NSW Government is transforming Macquarie Street East as one of Sydney\u2019s iconic historical and culturally significant heritage precincts, into a vibrant, connected and people-friendly arts, cultural and civic destination. The restoration of the Registrar General\u2019s Building is part of the Macquarie Street East vision and Master Plan.<\/p>\n

This area has been home to the Gadigal people for tens of thousands of years and is a place of historical and cultural significance for Aboriginal people.<\/p>\n

Located within the national heritage-listed Governor\u2019s Domain and Civic Precinct, Macquarie Street East today forms the crossroads of Sydney\u2019s cultural and civic spine.
\nSituated between Sydney\u2019s CBD and The Domain the precinct contains a collection of some of Australia\u2019s most significant institutions and heritage buildings:<\/p>\n
